Castel San Niccolò is located in the province of Arezzo between Casentino and Valdarno. This town has become famous thanks to
`Mostra Biennale della Pietra Lavorata` (Biennal Worked Stone Fair), that attract national and international important sculputors.
The old town is dominated by the Castle of St. Nicholas, built in the thirteenth century by the Counts Guidi. Part of the castle are the two chapels, the Chapel of St. Nicholas and the Chapel of the Crucifix, which houses a painting of the fourteenth century, entitled Crucifixion.
In the town of Castel San Niccolò, near the village of Strata we find the
Pieve di San Martino in Vado with three naves and important carved capitals, similar to those from the parish church of San Pietro a Romena and the Parish of Santa Maria Assunta. The church dates back to the twelfth century and it is a fine sandstone building. This is the only church of the Casentino to have kept the original facade.

Castel San Niccolò offers to its visitors various local products: the red potato Cetica, porcini mushrooms, chestnuts and ` Sambudello ` , a small sausage with a very intense aroma and spicy flavor.
Among the events in Castel San Niccolò, in addition to the `Mostra Biennale della Pietra Lavorata`, we mention the ‘Fiera di Pasqua’ (Easter Festival) in Borgo alla Collina.
