Location The apartment is just a few kilometers from Cecina (Livorno), in central-western Tuscany. The name Cecina probably derives from an Etruscan family name. The Romans settled in the territory of Cecina and a consul had a villa built near the town, whose remains are still visible. With the fall of the Republic of Pisa, Cecina became part of the possessions of the Medici family. By the end of the 16th century, the small village had become a town rich in smelting furnaces and smithies for the processing of the iron coming from the Isle of Elba. The reclamation works ordered by Grand Duke Leopold II in the first half of the 19th century made the land around Cecina cultivable, which promoted the economic development of the region. Nowadays Cecina is an important tourist destination in central-western Tuscany. Description The apartment is on the ground floor of a country house immersed in the olive groves of Val di Cecina. The garden that stretches around the house allows a beautiful view of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The private swimming pool (12x6 m; depth: 1.60 m) equipped with a solar heating system is exclusively reserved to guests. Next to the swimming pool is an outdoor shower. The barbecue equipment and an external private space furnished for having meals al fresco are at guests' disposal. The beaches of Donoratico, Cecina and Bibbona and the thermal baths of San Vincenzo are easily reached by car. Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri are just a few kilometers from the house, as well. The owners live in proximity to the apartment and will be glad to help their guests in case of need. Accommodation The apartment composes of kitchen, living room with dining area and direct access to the garden, a triple bedroom, a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and two bathrooms with shower. Facilities and Services The apartment is equipped with barbecue, TV set, stereo system, electric oven, microwave oven, freezer, kettle, American-style coffee maker, espresso coffee maker, high chair and private car parking place. A maid service is available upon request. Shop and services of any kind are 1.5 kilometers from the apartment.
