Villa Guerazzi is a villa in the province of Livorno. It is located in Cecina. The property began as a farmhouse with large agricultural cultivated fields and various farmhouses work. The laborers and farmers were living in the property itself. In 1868 Francesco Domenico Guerazzi bought the entire area and decided to embellish and refine the existing building creating a real villa. Unfortunately, he died in the house after only 5 years, in 1873. The large park and the close proximity to the sea make this beautiful villa with its tree-lined park, a wonder to visit.
Not only many trees and a Renaissance-style villa, in this area you will find also many museums. After the death of Francesco Domenico Guerazzi, the owners were many. In 1975, the owner Tonelli decided to sell the villa to the municipality of Cecina. The Municipality has used the wide spaces of the villa to host two museums and a number of associations. Inside Villa Guerazzi there is the Archaeological Museum of the Etruscan and Roman civilizations with important archaeological finds dating back to hundreds of years ago, and in some cases thousands of years ago. In addition to the Archaeological Museum, Villa Guerazzi also houses the Museum of Country Life and Labour of the northern Maremma.
