Villa Puccini in Lucca
Villa Puccini is located in Torre del Lago in the province of Lucca and if you love Italy also for operas you can not miss the opportunity to visit this villa during your holidays in Tuscany. Villa Puccini is located in Viareggio in Versilia.
Villa Puccini was built in the twentieth century by Giacomo Puccini. The property belonged to the Dukes of Austria. Puccini stayed there in 1891 and fell in love with the place and the proximity to Lake Massaciuccoli. In 1898 he bought it and decided to demolish the existing building and build a new house according to his taste. To the project participated also the famous Galileo Ghini and the architect Vincenzo Pilotti, in addition to Nomellini and De Servi. With the help of Chini, the villa reflects an eclectic style. Each room in the villa has decorative details. In the villa there is the piano room, living room and a sitting room. In the living room there is a ceramic work by Chini. There is also a chapel. The chapel was decorated by Adolfo de Carolis and now houses the Puccini and his wife's grave.
As it is also evident from his works, Puccini loved Japanese culture and history. The grounds of his villa is not very large, but the changes pointed at the creation of a Japanese garden. The villa and garden are connected by an arched window made of glass and iron, as the interior of the villa, using the typical materials of the eclectic style in the early twentieth century. The difference between the simple facade of the villa and the interior decorated with eclectic and sophisticated villa makes this particularly interesting.
The villa is now a museum and is therefore open to visitors throughout the year through the purchase of a ticket. In November it is closed.
