Villa Garzoni and its garden are among the main attractions of Collodi and the province of Pistoia. The property was bought in 1366 by the Garzoni family and in the fourteenth century there was a fortified building. In 1633 Roman Garzoni approved the villa project and over the centuries there have been many changes to its architectural structure. The garden was enlarged and modified in 1652 and it is today one of the most beautiful gardens in Tuscany with its statues, stairs and plants that make it extremely poetic through the alleys of the park. Ottaviano Diodati in the eighteenth century was the architect who designed the hydraulic system to operate the fountains and water features that today adorn the park surprising the visitor.
The villa was built on the hill and respects the surrounding landscape. On one side there are four floors while in the other part there are only three. A particularly scenic flight of stairs connects the park to the villa. The first floor is open and is characterized by frescoes and stucco decorations. The façade is decorated in rococo style. In addition to the large living room there are private rooms, among which we mention the maid's room with a canopy bed and silk fabrics and the red room or Napoleon bedroom. The dining room is furnished with eighteenth century and has frescoes by Correggio. The courtyard entrance door to the building, built in baroque style by Filippo Juvarra, one of the most important baroque buildings in Tuscany.
Walking through the park we suggest that you visit the romantic labyrinth, the Scala d'Acqua, the outdoor theater with hedges that line the main parts and Muses statues, the forest, the bamboo grove, the Avenue of the Poor and the Pavilion of Bagnetti with pools, fountains and water features including the invisible part ... are you curious?
