San Miniato is located in the province of Pisa, and was a city of pride for the Roman Empire. Its importance has not decreased during the following centuries and, for example, in 1200 it was the Emperor Frederick II himself who gave to the town many privileges, including the right to build a fortress and restoration of buildings. Allied to Pisa and the Empire, after Carlo d'Angiò the city rebelled and became Guelph proclaiming itself a free commune. In 1372, however, the town was subjected to Florence. Under the Florentine government, the city became one of the most important centers of Tuscany.

Among the typical products from San Miniato, the prince is definitely the truffle: the white truffle and the Scorzone truffle. Let us note however also the Tuscan Cauliflower, the truffle sausage, the wine salami , buristo (blood sausage) , the mousse made with the cheek of pork, Pera del Curato (a type of peer). Among the wines, the Bianco San Torpè, the Rosso Capro, the Rosso Reciso, the Maurleo Chianti Pisano and the Rosso Acquabona. Among the rosè wines, we mention the Rosa di Aglioni.
