Although in the province of Siena, the town of Chiusi is a short distance both from Arezzo to Perugia. Located in the southern part of the Val di Chiana, it is surrounded by a marvelous and very scenic area.

For lovers of history and archeology, Chiusi represents a very important destination: it is, in fact, one of the most ancient Etruscan towns and it was at the apex of its glory when Rome was just a small town.

We recommend a visit to the National Archaeological Museum that houses urns, coffins and other Etruscan findings. In addition in the center of the town there are two catacombs of the third century (Saint Mustiola and Saint Caterina d`Alessandria).
In the Cathedral Museum you can see Roman, early Christian and manuscripts coming from the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, dating back to the fifteenth century. From the museum you enter the Labyrinth of Porsenna, a suggestive route of tunnels carved into the sandstone leading to the underground city.

In the historical center, we suggest you to visit the Cathedral, the Church of San Francesco, the Church of Santa Maria della Morte and the ruins of the fortress.
