Location The villa stands at an altitude of about 605 meters on the hills that surround Montepulciano (Siena), in Valdichiana. Montepulciano is a charming town of Etruscan origin: the legend goes that it was founded by the famous king Porsenna. Like many other Tuscan towns, throughout the centuries Montepulciano was disputed between Florence and Siena and in 1390 entered into an alliance with the former. Two centuries of political stability and cultural ferment followed, during which important architects of the time built various churches and many residences for the aristocratic families of the town. It is in this period that the famous poet Agnolo Poliziano was born and lived in Montepulciano. Nowadays Montepulciano is renowned all over the world for its famed wines: the Rosso and the Nobile di Montepulciano. Description The former farmhouse has been renovated with an eye to preserving some original architectural elements, such as the beamed ceilings and the terracotta-tiled floors. In the garden that surrounds the villa are the private swimming pool (12x6 m; depth: 1.50 m) furnished with sun loungers and chairs, and an annex with a bathroom with shower. The barbecue equipment is at guests' disposal. Guests can have their meals in the veranda. The two nature reserves of the Lake of Chiusi and the Lake of Montepulciano, Chianciano Terme thermal baths, a riding stable and a tennis club are just a few kilometers from the villa. San Gimignano, Siena, Montalcino, the Crete Senesi region, the Chianti district and Florence are within short driving distance. Accommodation The villa is a two-story building divided into two wings. One wing composes of kitchen, living room with fireplace, four double bedrooms (one with direct access to the veranda), two twin bedrooms and three bathrooms (one with bathtub and two with shower). The second wing has an independent entrance at the back and consists of living room with kitchenette, a twin bedroom and a bathroom with shower. Facilities and Services The villa is equipped with barbecue, bicycles, working fireplace, DVD player, oven, microwave oven, fridge, freezer, coffee maker and private car parking place. Shops and services of any kind are 5 kilometers from the villa. Chianciano Terme thermal baths are 12 kilometers from the property. A tennis club and a riding stable are within 20 kilometers from the estate.
