Location
The villa stands at an altitude of about 324 meters between San Gimignano and Poggibonsi (Siena), in Valdelsa, a region of central Tuscany that owes its name to the river Elsa, the tributary of the Arno River, which flows through it.
Valdelsa, which has been inhabited since Etruscan times (as demonstrate numerous items unearthed in the region), experienced a period of development and economic growth in the Middle Ages, thanks to the creation of the Via Francigena, the pilgrimage road connecting northern Europe to Rome. It is that period that many wonderful churches and the first castles and fortified burgs (Certaldo, Semifonte, Castelfiorentino and San Miniato) were built.
Between the 13th and 14th centuries the Republic of Florence destroyed Semifonte and conquered Certaldo and Castelfiorentino, thus gaining a direct access to the Via Francigena. After having conquered San Gimignano and Poggibonsi in the 15th century, Florence extended its power over the whole Valdelsa.
Description
In origin the building was a barn dating from the early 20th century. It has been beautifully renovated with an eye to maintaining some of its origin features, such as the wood-beamed ceilings, and transformed into a cozy vacation villa.
The barbecue equipment, a table for having meals in the open air and an above-ground swimming pool (3.5x6.5 m; depth: 1.20 m) are at guests' disposal in the garden that surrounds the building.
The villa is just a few kilometers from San Gimignano. Many Tuscan cities of art, including Siena, Florence, Pisa, Volterra and Arezzo, are within short drives.
Accommodation
The villa is a two-story building composed of kitchen, living room with fireplace, dining area and single sofa bed, a second living area, storeroom-laundry room, two double bedrooms (one with an ensuite bathroom with whirlpool bathtub), a bathroom with shower and a half bathroom.

The villa is equipped with barbecue, working fireplace, video cassette recorder/DVD player, oven, freezer, whirlpool bathtub and private car parking place.
