The villa is situated in Valdelsa, in Casaglia, a small village in the province of Siena between Poggibonsi and San Gimignano. It is a building dating back to the 12th century, which in the origin was a church. After having been deconsecrated, the church was used as a sighting tower and a meeting point for peasants then it was converted into a villa.
The elegant building built with local materials is surrounded by a garden dotted with cypresses where is a concrete barbecue. The garden is furnished with tables and chairs.
The private swimming pool (7x14 m; depth: 1.50 m) that lies on a hill about 200 metres from the villa is reserved to the exclusive use of the guests and is open from May to October. Sun loungers, deck chairs, sunshades, a table and a shower are at guests` disposal.
The villa has been renovated with an eye to preserving its original structure and the interiors feature traditional elements of the Tuscan rural architecture, such as terracotta-tiled and beamed ceilings. The rooms are furnished in the typical Tuscan style.
An excellent departure point for one-day trips to Colle Val d`Elsa, Certaldo, Volterra, Siena, Florence and the Chianti region, the villa is also the ideal accommodation for sporty guests. In proximity to the villa are a riding stable, a tennis club, a bowling alley and a bicycle and motor-scooter rental. The Golf Club Castelfalfi and Florence Golf Club Ugolino are easily reached by car.
The villa is provided with all comforts (air conditioning, satellite TV, CD/DVD player, wood-burning oven, oven, microwave oven, electric grill, toaster, American-style coffee maker, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, iron and ironing board). The rent includes the weekly change of household, table and bed linen and of the swimming-pool towels. A cot bed and a high chair are available upon request (to be presented at booking).
