Location
The villa stands about 250 meters above sea level near Pienza (Siena), in the heart of Val d`Orcia, the wide valley that stretches north-east of Mount Amiata, in the provinces of Siena and Grosseto.
The valley is also an important natural, artistic and cultural park, which UNESCO declared a World Heritage site in 2004. In the Renaissance many members of the so-called Sienese school reproduced the enthralling landscape that is to be admired from the windows of the villa in many frescoes and paintings.
Val d`Orcia is also scattered with many towns and villages of medieval origin, including Pienza and Montalcino, which are within easy driving distance of the villa. The area is also famous for its thermal waters.
