Location
The small and charming villa is located in Maremma, in one of the most beautiful areas of Argentario promontory, near Porto Santo Stefano (Grosseto).
Porto Santo Stefano is the most important town on Argentario promontory as well as a famous Tuscan seaside resort. Between the early 15th and the first half of the 16th century the town was ruled by Siena. At that time Porto Santo Stefano was a small harbor subject to frequent pirate raids. It was in that period that the tower of Argentiera was built, together with other towers along the coast. In the second half of the 16th century the town became part of the State of Presidi and the Spaniards built the fortress, the most important building in the town.
Every year, on August 15th, the "Palio marinaro dell'Argentario" is held in Porto Santo Stefano. The palio is one of the longest rowing races in the world.
