Villa Paolina in Florence
Villa Paolina is located in Quinto near Sesto Fiorentino near Florence. The distinctive crest on the villa is that of Napoleon. The coat of arms of Napoleon is colored blue with a gold-colored eagle with wings down, with the head turned to the side and a thunderbolt in its claws.
The villa is well visible from Via Gramsci on the road between Florence and Sesto Fiorentino. The cottage dates back to the fifteenth century, and many were the owners. In the eighteenth century the house was enlarged by the family Dragomanni Camillo and in 1820 Borghese bought it. Camillo Borghese was the husband of Paolina Bonaparte. In 1831, the Borghese decided to beautify and renovate the villa so that Paolina Bonaparte could spend there the summer months, when the house in Via Ghibellina in Florence was too hot.
The architectural style of the villa is a neo-classical style, typical of the nineteenth century. Most of the decorations are by Giuseppe Bezzuoli and Aristodemo Costoli. The ceiling of the upper gallery was painted by Joseph Bezzuoli. The plasters are, however, of Aristodemus Costoli. The furnishings in the rooms are very stylish and creates an atmosphere of pomp and wealth. The upper floor of the house was the main floor of the property. From the main floor through an iron bridge inhabitants reached the big park in romantic style. The park still exists today, albeit with a smaller size.
