Villa Chigi Saracini Lucarini in Siena
Villa Chigi Saracini Lucarini is located in Castelnuovo Berardenga in the province of Siena. The villa has two coats of arms on the main facade, the coat of arms of the Chigi della Rovere family on the north side and the coat of arms of the Saraceni Marescotti on the south side.
Villa Chigi was designed in the early nineteenth century by the Saraceni Galgano Lucarini, at that time owner of the villa. The villa is on three floors and has a rectangular shape following precise geometric lines. To build it, the owner decided to destroy part of the walls of the castle and to redesign part of the urban plan of the village. There are two large arched doors that allow access to the villa. The balconies adorn the facade full of windows.
The park is definitely worth a visit. It was designed by architect Agostino Fantastici in the early nineteenth century, Precisely in 1834. In the park there are several statues of musicians added in the twentieth century by Guido Lucarini Saraceni, famous for having established the prestigious Chigi Music Academy in Siena. In addition to the statues of musicians, in the circular square, there is a statue by Michelangelo sculpted by Tito Sarrocchi. Finally, a beautiful marble fountain by Tito Sarrocchi adorns another square in the park.
