Location The small villa stands at an altitude of about 494 meters on the hills of Valdichiana, a few kilometers from Cortona (Arezzo). Thanks to its strategic position, Cortona was an important Etruscan town. It was the Etruscan who, in the 4th century BC, built the imposing walls that surround the town. In the 13th century Cortona became a free commune and was involved into the struggle between Guelfs and Ghibellines as an ally of Florence and Siena against nearby Arezzo. In the 15th century the town became part of the Florentine Republic. More recently Cortona has been the set of several films, including "Benvenuti in Casa Gori", "Under the Tuscan Sun" and "Una Moglie Bellissima". Description Situated near Cortona, at the boundary between Tuscany and Umbria, the villa is an excellent departure point for visiting many cities of art in central Italy, including Arezzo, Sansepolcro, Perugia, Anghiari, Siena, Florence and Orvieto. Lake Trasimeno, a tennis club and a riding stable are within a few kilometers of the property. The charming villa is a 17th-century building that features some elements typical of the Tuscan rural style, such as brick arches, terracotta-tiled floors and beamed ceilings. The private swimming pool (8x4 m) lies a few meters from the building. The barbecue equipment is at guests' disposal in the garden that surrounds the villa. Accommodation The small villa is a two-story building composed of kitchen, dining room, two double bedrooms, a bedroom with a double and a single bed and two bathrooms with shower. The veranda is furnished with table and chairs for guests to have their meals in the open air. Facilities and Services The villa is equipped with barbecue, oven, microwave oven, bicycles and private car parking place. A baby sitter and a domestic help are available upon request. A restaurant is 400 meters from the villa. Shops and services of any kind, a tennis club and a riding stable are within 14 kilometers of the property.
