Location The farmhouse stands at an altitude of about 490 meters on a hill of Valdichiana near Cortona (Arezzo). In the past Cortona was one of the most important Etruscan towns. It was the Etruscan who, in the 6th century BC, built the imposing walls that are still partly visible. In the 13th century Cortona became a free commune and was involved into the struggle between Guelfs and Ghibellines that racked Tuscany as an ally of Florence and Siena against nearby Arezzo. In the 15th century, the town became part of the Florentine Republic. Recently Cortona has been the set of several famous films, including "Benvenuti in Casa Gori", "Under the Tuscan Sun" and "Life is Beautiful". Description The beautiful stone farmhouse furnished in rustic style located just a few kilometers from Cortona is an excellent solution for visiting several important Tuscan cities of art, including Arezzo, Siena, Florence, Sansepolcro, Anghiari and Caprese Michelangelo. The forests of Casentino and the Chianti region are within short driving distance as well. The small pool (3.5x4 m) in the terraced garden that commands the surrounding countryside is equipped with hydromassage system. The barbecue equipment and an outdoor table are at guests' disposal. Accommodation The farmhouse is a two-story building composed of entry hall, kitchen with dining area and fireplace, two living rooms (one with dining area and fireplace and the other with a sofa bed), a single bedroom, a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and two bathrooms (one with whirlpool bathtub and one with whirlpool shower). The living room with the sofa bed has a direct access to the garden. The first floor is accessed also by an external stair. Facilities and Services The farmhouse is equipped with barbecue, fireplace, whirlpool bathtub and shower, oven, freezer, iron and private car-parking place. A house cleaning service is available upon request. Shops and services of any kind are 1 kilometer from the farmhouse.
